Totally Organized Tuesdays- The Laundry Edition

I thought I would start this as I have been asked a lot recently about how I organize my home. Now one would think that having twins would have sent my house into complete chaos but quite the opposite is true. My motto is " a place for everything and everything in its place". Now if only my husband would get on board with this motto.

So today I will show you a few things I have done in my laundry room to make it more efficient. Unfortunately none of these tips will make the laundry do itself, but if you have figured that out please let me know ;)

This is my laundry sorting system: Towels, Whites, Colors, Jeans. I also have a hamper in the master bedroom and one in the boy's room. I bring those hampers in the laundry room and then sort the clothes. I made these by cutting out vinyl on my Silhouette.

I made this "tip jar" because there is a lot of money that circulates through our laundry from my husband's pockets. So I figured he can't remember to empty his pockets, I will just tip myself for emptying them. If you are reading this hunny, I prefer money to the ink pens you have been known to leave in your pockets and then get washed and turn all the clothes blue...just saying. This was also made with vinyl cut by my silhouette.

Lost socks are a big issue in our house. I finally found out why though, my sweet little Gabe has been hoarding socks behind his bed. He doesn't take off both though just one so that explains why I have a whole bin full of socks with no match. I started buying socks from old navy that just come in navy, white, and gray. They match everything and are easier to find a match. One good thing about spring and summer in Texas is no socks needed. I made this using scrapbook paper and my silhouette. I didn't realize this bin  was so much smaller than my others, I could have made the label smaller.

I hope someone finds this post helpful!

  9. My mom called found money her laundry tips too! The way she taught us to clean our pockets before putting jeans in the hamper was by reading notes from our friends and stealing our cash (which was usually hers to begin with, of course). Great tips!

  12. Hi there! Great ideas! I found you on Not Just a Housewife. Perhaps this isn't the best forum for questions, but your post got me thinking about an issue in our house and I thought I'd try to get some feedback. Our washer and dryer are behind a cabinet in our kitchen. I have hampers in each bedroom, but all the sorting then gets done on the dining room floor, often leaving piles of laundry cluttering my house for a couple days. Any thoughts about having a sorting system for compact spaces? Anyone? I need some crafty mom tips!

  13. Nancy- If you have front loaders perhaps you could do something like this: http://showandtell-sausha.blogspot.com/2010/11/laundry-room-highlight-with-awesome.html
We couldn't do this in our laundry room because of the cabinets that we have above our front loaders. Hope this helps and thanks for visiting my blog.
