My Favorite Two Year Olds

I haven't done a Gabe and Grant update in awhile. It could be because these guys keep me busier than ever before.

Gabe

-Neither one of them are talking very much yet(I could do a whole post just about that) but Gabe started putting some words together this week. I went to get them up one morning and he ran up to me with a torn up book and said "Bubba book uh-oh" then looks looks at Grant with disappointment. I think I have found my tattle tale :)

- He loves to wear his daddy's hats, shoes and sometimes sunglasses.

-He thinks he is too big for naps but then he ends up falling asleep in the middle of dinner.

Grant

- When we look at pictures of babies and I ask him "Where's the Baby?" and he of course points to himself.

-He carries a tape measure around and measures everything.

Both

-They rarely take naps now. When they do they crash hard, notice how they are not in their beds, no pillowcases on their pillows, no sheets on their bed and no shirts on.

-Bath time is like being on the front row to see Shamu at SeaWorld. Read: Mommy gets drenched, there is more water out of the tub than in.

- I tried to give them a bubble bath for the first time a month ago and they freaked out. I think they didn't like not being able to see their feet.

-Anytime I open up the fridge they scream "Cheese". They love string cheese.

- When I give one food, they point to the other's tray and want me to give him the same thing. They are all for equal rights.

-They love any kind of "dip", whether it be ketchup, honey mustard, gravy, or alfredo. Even when there is no dip to be found they pretend like they are dipping their food before they eat it.

Sesame Street Party: The Party Pictures

On Monday I showed you the food, yesterday I showed you the decorations, and today I will show you how the "stars of the show" liked their party.

My mom said that when I saw these pictures I would be confused and I was. My husband wasn't paying attention what the bibs said just put a bib on each kid. Resulting in the wrong bib on the wrong kid and I was looking at it thinking....wait a minute that isn't Grant lol

They didn't care for the bounce house part but they LOVED the slide.

It wouldn't be a party without a tantrum. I know, I know, it's his party he can cry if he wants to.

And these are some of my favorites from the party. They are with their great grandparents.

Tomorrow I will wrap up this party week with the invitations and how it looked all put together.

Don't forget to go enter the My Memories Digital Scrapbooking Software Giveaway. It ends Janurary 14th.

Birthday Dinner

We took the boys to a local restaurant called Goodfella's for their birthday. Now for those who live in our area and  have been to Goodfella's you probably know this is not really a kid friendly place and are probably wondering why I would pick there to bring my little ones instead of a place like Chuck E. Cheese. Well two years ago on the day after Christmas we had Christmas with my mom and then went to dinner at Goodfella's after that we decided we would hit Best Buy to get a video camera so we would be ready for New Years Eve which was the boys scheduled c-section. All of this stuff was very insignificant until I went into labor while in Best Buy. So although my husband probably wishes the tradition was to go to Best Buy, we go to Goodfella's every year on their special day. So for the past three years and hopefully for many years to come you know where you can find us on the 26th.

 Giving Scooter some love...

I love this sequence of pictures...notice Grant has the same face and Gabe has many different faces. He was mad because I made him wait until we sang before he could dig into the cake.

All was well again when baby got his cake :)

Happy Birthday Gabe and Grant!

I can't believe it has already been two years since I delivered the most precious gifts ever given to me.
Gabriel Wayne and Grant Owen

I want to keep you little and shelter you from this cruel world forever but at the same time I know this world is a much better place because you both are in it.

My sweet Gabe, you are the leader of the bunch. I guess that is fitting since you are the "big" brother (by a minute). You have no fears and when Grant is unsure about something you show him that everything will be alright.

My silly little Grant man, you can make anyone laugh with all of the faces you make. You also know how to comfort Gabe when he is upset. You know just the right toys to bring to make him laugh.

Here is the slideshow documenting their second year of life. I don't think I could have found a better song than "Smile" to decribe how I feel about them. Even on the bad days, they find ways to make me smile.

Happy Birthday Baby Boys! I love you both and can't wait to see all the great things this new year brings for us!

You can see the slideshow of their first year here. I am proud of myself for keeping it down to one song this year ;)

One Week

In the period of one week my boys have learned how to...

Use their pottery barn chairs to climb on the kitchen counters.

The next day we finally got barstools for our island, the boys can now climb on the barstools to get on the island. They broke a jar that was on the island.

Mad that I took away their chairs so they couldn't get on the counter, they learn how to use their little monkey feet up against the drawers and get to stuff far back on the counter. Grant brought me a Dr. Pepper can that he had spilt trying to get it off the counter. I am cleaning up the mess and he comes to me(not crying)  with blood all over his mouth, hands, shirt and legs. Needless to say I am freaking out trying to figure out what he did. Where was his cut? Well it looked like a small paper cut on his finger ( I am sure from the can he had snatched), he just bled a lot and spread it all over his body to give me a mild heart attack.

As if that is not enough...

They learned to climb up the side of their highchairs and get in them, not because they want to eat but because they want to be able to reach the cords to the blinds that I put up out of their reach.
And for those spots that don't have drawers to climb, they have their cars. It is all good until the wheels move away from the counter and they fall.

But we are all still alive to tell of it, so I guess it was a pretty good week.

p.s. boys if you are reading, mommy could really use a boring week next week.

Haircuts

We took the boys to get a haircut on Saturday. This is not their first haircut(more like their 4th) but everytime they cut their hair I think they look a little more grown up :(

First up was Grant and he was such a big boy this time. Last time he screamed the entire time. Apparently all he needed was his Daddy to hold him and a couple sips of chocolate shake from Chick-fil-a and all was right in the world.
(Side note: I drank a TON of chocolate shakes while pregnant with them so I am definitely to blame for their love of chocolate shakes )

Gabe was next and as expected he was so big during his haircut. Last time after watching his brother scream he got up there and laughed because it tickled. He definitely play the "older" brother role well.

Don't they look so grown now?

It's Snowing?!?!

In Texas? In October?
What it's not snowing in your house?

Be very jealous because my boys are making it snow here!

1st mistake: Went to the bathroom and didn't bring the boys with me. Was gone 2 minutes or less.
2nd mistake: Left styrafoam to close to the edge of the counter.
Lesson Learned: Take boys with me to the bathroom and push everything to the back of the counter.

If you have toddlers you know how true this statement is.

Then the very next day it snowed again...

This time in the bathroom with toilet paper while I was making their lunch.

Lesson Learned: Buy covers for the door knobs so the boys can't get in.
Silver Lining: They didn't put the toilet paper in the toilet which would have made a bigger mess...yet.

It's a good thing I have the best clean-up crew around ;)

Hope your week wasn't as "snow" filled as mine was!

Keeping Us On Our Toes

Just when we think we have it all figured out these boys add something new to the mix to keep us on our toes. Remember my  post a couple weeks ago where we figured out how to keep them out of the dishwasher and oven? Well not even a week goes by and they learn to do this...

Happy to report, after several time-outs and me camping out in the kitchen so I could catch them in the act and they are no longer that interested in doing their new trick.

They are now on to tearing doors off of our built in cabinets in the living room while Mommy is cooking dinner.
Anyone have a application for the World's Strongest Baby contest? Or possibly the World's Most Destructive Baby Contest?

There is never a dull moment here but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Sweet Sounds

If you ask any parent what their favorite sound is, the answer will probably be the laughter of their children and I am no different. I love to hear the little giggles that fill my home on a daily basis. This is just one of the many moments that I got a chance to capture.
I don't know what was so funny about dropping "Ella"(Gabe's elephant) on the floor but they sure couldn't turn off their giggle boxes.

And just when I thought I couldn't love any sound more....Gabe learned some new words(and Grant is working on them too)

Gabe and Grant Proofed

My boys have so far have learned how to master all of our child cabinet locks and drawer locks which causes no real harm just makes a big mess. Along with this though they mastered the oven and the dishwasher which is a safety hazard of course. The thing is when these people are testing their child safety locks, they didn't test it with twins who work as a team. Well we did find out that our oven has a lock (woohoo!) but didn't have such luck with our dishwasher...until my husband became a genius and saved me from having to get my kids out of the dishwasher 153 times a day. Just wish he would have thought of it sooner!

"Momma always says if we work together as a team we get things done faster"

Grant dishing out the goods.
Then the daddy ruined all the fun by rigging up this.
And this is what baby does when the daddy ruins all the fun...
oh wait baby wasn't done yet!
