Personalized Match Game

My boys are at the age where they like to sort and match things. I thought about buying them a match game but I knew I needed something sturdier than the store bought games for my destructive two.

When we were at my Aunt's house for Christmas the boys entertained themselves with some cardboard coasters, so she sent us home with them. A couple days later I came across them when going through their gifts and I thought they would be perfect for a Match Game. You could also use the coasters some restraunts bring out with your drinks....they are free and you will be recycling :)

Supplies for this project:
coasters
pencil
scissors
scrapbook paper
photos
mod podge
paint brush or foam brush to apply mod podge

These are the coasters we used.

Trace the coaster on the scrapbook paper and cut it out. You can always trim off excess once you have it glued.

Do the same thing to the photo....trace and cut. I used some extra pictures I had left from Christmas cards.

Apply mod podge to the coaster and then place the picture on top.

Once you have the picture on place another layer of mod podge on top and around the edges.
Repeat the same two steps for putting the scrapbook paper on the back.

I only made 6 cards (3 pairs) so that it wouldn't overwhelm them. We can always add more later ;)

We have been doing a lot of matching w/ my little guy too....I've been thinking of making my own as well with the alphabet and numbers. These are so cute...I may need to do some with pictures too!

I love this idea:) My daughter loves playing with our silver Michael Aram coasters and we play educational games with them like counting them and talking about their circle shape. But I'm filing this away as an art project for down the road and wanted to let you know I featured the idea on my site today. Here's the link: http://hintmama.com/2014/03/25/todays-hint-another-use-for-coasters/
